MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. - While many Marines here aboard the air station are maintaining and operating supporting forces, Lance Cpl. Christopher R. Skelton is tucked away in one of the many offices at the Joint Law Center, working hard to prepare packages for Marines that get involuntarily separated from the Marine Corps.
"Any Marine that is getting separated comes through us," he said. The Joint Law Center is here to provide quality legal services to active duty members, reservists and retirees, said Skelton.
"We indirectly promote good order and discipline, because we help keep the good Marines in and the bad Marines out," he said. "I have learned a lot working here because I get to see firsthand all the stuff that I should and shouldn't do as a Marine."
"I love my job, but sometimes it gets hard to see Marines that have the potential to be good Marines get separated because they made mistakes such as doing drugs once or twice. But drugs are intolerable. It's our policy, so they have to go."
