BISMARCK, N.D. - Scott Boespflug, command group executive officer for the North Dakota National Guard, was promoted to colonel by Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general, in front of family, friends and colleagues during a promotion ceremony Nov. 14 at the Guard's Raymond J. Bohn Armory.
Sprynczynatyk administered the oath of office, which is traditionally rendered to all commissioned officers in the N.D. National Guard each time an officer is promoted. This oath re-affirms the officer's commitment to the Constitution of the United States and the State of North Dakota.
Boespflug was born and raised in Dickinson, N.D., and currently resides in Bismarck. He has been a member of the North Dakota National Guard for more than 34 years enlisting as a combat engineer with the Dickinson-based Company D, 164th Engineer Battalion in 1977. Boespflug has been employed full-time with the North Dakota National Guard in various positions including stock control supervisor, property accountability supervisor, contracting officer for the United States Property and Fiscal Office, officer in charge of the 68th Troop Command and Deputy for the United States Property and Fiscal Officer. In 2011, he was assigned as the command group executive officer for Joint Force Headquarters.
Boespflug has served in numerous key positions during his traditional National Guard career to include Security and Plans Officer, 136th Quartermaster Battalion (Water Supply); commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 136th Quartermaster Battalion; commander, 131st Quartermaster Detachment; contracting officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, North Dakota Army National Guard; operations and executive Officer, 136th Quartermaster Battalion; administrative/logistics officer, Engineer Brigade, 34th Infantry Division; executive officer, 68th Troop Command; and commander, 136th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. From 2009-2010, he served as the deputy chief of staff for the Multi-National Task Force-East at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo. This contingent was a United States led multi-national force comprised of over 2,200 soldiers and airmen from across
the nation and five countries.
Boespflug is a 1977 graduate of Dickinson's Trinity High School and he received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Mary in 1992, with a major in Business Administration.
Boespflug resides in Bismarck with his wife, Stephanie. His parents are Joe and Arlys Boespflug, of Dickinson.
