    Defense Contract Management Agency

RICHMOND, Va. -- When David Frank joined the Army in the early 1970s he didn’t know he would still be working for the Department of Defense four decades later.

Frank is a lead quality assurance representative with the Defense Contract Management Agency at the Defense Supply Center Richmond. He was presented with his 40-year federal service certificate at an Oct. 20 ceremony on Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

“I served three years in the military, then began working as a civilian in Richmond,” said Frank. “After a short time in Manassas, Va., work brought me to the supply center.”

That was in 1976, and Frank has been an integral part of the quality assurance workforce there since. He’s now certified in a variety of areas, from accountable electronics to railcars. As a lead, however, it’s most rewarding for Frank to assist less experienced DCMA employees. “I enjoy working with the other QARs and helping them to be successful in their jobs.”

Frank’s dedication to quality carries beyond the immediate job and onto the agency’s continued effectiveness. Though retirement is an option, Frank has a few things left to finish first. “I want to stay long enough to see that the people we have are properly trained and certified in quality assurance.”
