CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait - The soldiers of C Troop 1/180th Cavalry exchanged high-fives and shouts of motivation as they celebrated their recent victory on the virtual battlefield known as the EST or Engagement Skills Trainer. The soldiers were able to overcome their initial woes of inaccurate shooting on their way to a decisive victory over the virtual enemy.
Spc. Clayton Lidell Mosley, a native of Ada, Okla., said, "I'm really proud of how capable we have proven ourselves to be on the virtual battlefield. We're not afraid to virtually close and virtually destroy our virtual enemies, and I think it showed today."
The virtual battle is said to have lasted at least two and a half hours, taking place in such locations as a remote virtual village, a crowded virtual marketplace, a virtual IED factory and what was presumably a large ship sailing on the virtual ocean.
The soldiers credit their virtual victory to the months of training time that the men partook together earlier this year in Mississippi and Louisiana, said Sgt. Raul Negron, a native of Ada, Okla.
"I think that this victory can be attributed directly to the months of arduous training that we endured together during the mobilization phase. These men trained hard, and today I think we validated to ourselves and our superiors that we are a more than capable virtual fighting force," Negron said.
Despite the heroic virtual victory, Charlie Troop's leadership are adamant about their troops maintaining level-headedness and continue to prepare themselves for future virtual engagements.
Cpl. Jeffery Parker, a native of Norman, Okla., said, "Any time you score such a major virtual victory, it becomes tough to keep your edge because soldiers begin to lose respect for their enemies."
Charlie Troop is continuing to train; the leaders and junior enlisted men of Charlie Troop work around the clock to maintain the readiness of themselves and their equipment to deploy at any time to any virtual environment in order to meet any virtual enemy that they are called upon to destroy.
