CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Armed Forces Entertainment presented a night of comedy with the Standup for America Tour featuring comedians Tommy Davidson and Dante Carter at Camp Arifjan Nov. 16.

Throughout the night, the comedians took the stage and brought laughter to hundreds of service members. Both comedians were inspired by the troops and enjoyed performing for them.

“Over the years, I’ve been very fortunate in the entertainment business and was able to make a living doing this as a job,” said Davidson. “What inspires me to perform for the troops overseas is I wouldn’t have been able to do the things I’ve done without them serving our country.”

Davidson takes pleasure in entertaining service members, which allows him to perform for a different type of crowd.

“The military audience is the best,” said Davidson. “It’s [a] combination of everybody throughout our country, which makes for my best shows.”

For Carter, doing his comedy routine for the troops allows him to give something back to those who serve our country. He enjoys the energy level service members bring to the show.

“Troops appreciate the show before it evens happens, and that’s awesome for comics, because it gives us great energy to perform,” said Carter.

Throughout the two hour show, the comedians had the crowd roaring with laughter due to their impressions and storytelling. After the show, the comedians took time to sign autographs and pose for photos.

The show was a week before Thanksgiving. For the comedians to take time during the holiday season and spend it with troops is special for them, said Davidson.

“I do believe I’m my mother’s greatest accomplishment,” said Davidson, who was adopted as a child. “She took me in with love and service in mind. She made sure I had a great life. In turn, with all my success, I am able to give back in service at a larger scale for her.”

Third Army hosting the Standup for America Tour provided Soldiers with entertainment during the holiday season. Third Army’s commitment to the well being of its service members helps keep it ready tonight.
