FOREST PARK, Ga. -- On Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, 3rd MDSC soldier Sgt. 1st Class Semba Brittian was sworn in as a board member to the Georgia Commission for Service and Volunteerism by Georgia Governor Nathanal Deal. The event was attended by fellow soldiers, friends and family.
Brittian has volunteered with the following organizations: American Cancer Society, Northside Hospital Network of Hope, Youth Force, High School JROTC, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves, Parent Teacher Student Association, Association of the United States Army, United Services Organizations, Veterans Hospital and Read America. Her strength, compassion and love of others contribute to her being an advocate for volunteerism. Brittian goes above and beyond in empowering people with information pertaining to becoming a volunteer.
Brittian is a native of New York and is currently an Active Duty Army service member assigned to 3d Medical Command (Deployment Support) at the Fort Gillem Enclave. She has been in the Army 25 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Howard University and her master’s degree from the University of Maryland. She has two children; son Jemal, age 18 currently attends Post University in Waterbury, CT and daughter Jemella, age 15 attends Chattahoochee HS in Alpharetta, Ga.
