CAMP ADDER, Iraq - We know there is probably no perfect mission. We look at the composite risk management to control and analyze what's working or not. I would not want to be anywhere other then here running missions with the “Earthpigs,” Charlie Company, 1/34th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Squadron, 94th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. We continue to log miles and complete our missions successfully.

There have been a lot of changes with the drawdown of United States Forces Iraq during the past several months. “Earthpig 10” returned from mission recently after spending Thanksgiving Day on the road in Camp Adder, Iraq.

Truck commander, Sgt. Alex Bodnar, 1st Squad, 1st Platoon, returned from Camp Taji to Camp Adder, Iraq, with his Convoy Escort Team, Thanksgiving Day. They all ate Meals Ready to Eat or MRE's for their Thanksgiving Day banquet.

The conditions of closing down a base with limited supplies "was like camping on Thanksgiving," says Bodnar, with bases closing and limited resources to run a dining facilities.

The CET was able to sit together eating Thanksgiving Day MRE's outside their billeting door step, giving thanks for each other, and their safety. The weather was approximately 75 degrees and perfect for an outdoor meal.

Being home for the holidays is a promise that has been made for some. Camp Buerhing is home for the 1-94 CAV soldiers who live on the road during the holiday's returning from a mission. We are prayerful for those soldiers’ safety and presence who continue to run a perfect mission, to say you were a part of bringing troops home, and were there at the end.
