LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq -- A senior Army aviator and Junction City, Kan., resident was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer Four in a July 1, ceremony.
Chief Warrant Officer Leonard K. Pearson, 42, currently assigned to the 82nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance), enlisted in 1982 as a nuclear, biological and chemical specialist and became an Army aviator in 1990. Brig. Gen. James E. Chambers, 13th Corps Support Command and LSA Anaconda commanding general, promoted Pearson in a former Iraqi air force hanger now used by coalition forces. If you can't get promoted with your family, the next best thing is with your fellow soldiers, said Chambers.
Pearson's career has included deployments to Korea, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and the Balkans. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (5 awards) and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal for deployed service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pearson has four children ranging in age from five to 17-years-old.
