    4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. – The 103rd Engineer Company received the 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Dauntless Discipline Patch in a formal ceremony held Jan. 11 in the company motorpool.

The Dauntless Discipline Patch Program is the brigade commander’s incentive program for company-level commands that demonstrate outstanding soldier discipline by maintaining a drug-free environment while having no alcohol or drug related incidents within a 90-day period.

The 103rd Engineer Company is the final company within the 94th Engineer Battalion to receive the patch authorizing all battalion Soldiers to wear the subdued 4th MEB patch featuring a red sword that is fashioned after the brigade’s higher headquarters, 1st Infantry Division, also known as the Big Red One.

In addition to the company soldiers, Command Sgt. Maj. Dwayne Keel, 94th Eng. Bn. command sergeant major, and Lt. Col. Gary Calese, 94th Eng. Bn. commander donned the patch signifying the entire battalion’s accomplishment.

“This is a great achievement for the Wolverine Battalion,” said Calese. “It is a public recognition of the personal discipline of our Soldiers, and the strength of our NCOs. I couldn’t be more proud of the team.”

Under the command of Calese, the 94th En. Bn. has become the first battalion in the history of the 4th MEB to receive the patch.

“This is a significant accomplishment,” said Col. Frank Y. Rangel Jr., 4th MEB commander.

“The soldiers and leaders of the Wolverine battalion have been focused on improving the discipline and morale of their unit, and this achievement illustrates an important point: Good things happen when leaders are engaged in the lives of their Soldiers and Families,” he said.

There are benefits to earning the patch too, said Rangel.

Each company that qualifies for the Dauntless Discipline Patch will receive a three day weekend pass. They continue to earn passes for each consecutive qualifying 90-day period.

“The 94th Engineer Battalion is the largest unit in the brigade, which makes their achievement even more remarkable,” Rangel said.

In addition to the five companies that make the 94th Eng. Bn., there are seven companies that currently wear the patch.
