CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait - The new year has started off at a fast pace for the 113th Military Police Company stationed at Camp Buehring, Kuwait. Over the past few weeks, several training events were scheduled, including personnel security detail and shotgun training. The next few weeks will not be any different. The company will participate in M249, 9mm and M4 ranges, to name a few.

These training events have and will aid in the knowledge of the mission that is needed to be accomplished. This will also familiarize soldiers with the proper weapon systems that are carried on a day-to-day basis.

The personnel security detail training consisted of 3 to 4 days of a mixture of dry-fire and live-fire ranges. The PSD is an intensive and comprehensive course designed to ensure the security and protection of executive, VIP, dignitaries and other personnel. Operators will learn security planning, VIP and escort techniques for mobile and foot operations, first aid, communication methods, navigation, evasive driving, shooting from a moving vehicle, how to react appropriately to threats and covert protection. The course may be customized to focus on domestic and/or international arenas.

Soldiers of the 3rd Platoon for the 113th Military Police Company were ready for a change of pace and happy to be out training on weapon systems common to the Military Police Corps. When asked how they thought PSD training was, the consensus was that it was some of the best they have received.

The soldiers of the 113th Military Police Company also received familiarization on the 12-gauge shotgun. They had 10 rounds of buckshot to shoot at 35 meter targets. There are many more training events scheduled in the upcoming weeks to keep soldiers better prepared for possible missions and to help maintain and refresh the soldiers on basic skills previously taught.
