MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP S.D. BUTLER, OKINAWA, Japan – Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda toured and made courtesy calls to Marine Corps Air Station Futenma and Camp Kinser here Feb. 27.
The purpose of the visit was to meet with the Okinawa area coordinator and the commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, receive a briefing about MCAS Futenma, and tour Camp Kinser.
Noda made an office call to Lt. Gen. Kenneth J. Glueck Jr., Okinawa area coordinator and commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force, and Maj. Gen. Peter J. Talleri, commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, at the base operations center, adjacent to the air traffic control tower on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. The meeting was also attended by Ray Greene, consulate general, U.S. Consulate General, Naha.
Following the meeting, Noda toured the air traffic control tower and received a command brief about air operations from Col. James G. Flynn, Marine Corps Air Station Futenma commanding officer.
Noda was greeted at Camp Kinser by Col. Scott E. Erdelatz, 3rd Marine Logistics Group chief of staff, and then received a brief about the Naha military port and the west coast development projects by the Okinawa Defense Bureau.
