SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Chapel 2 is hosting a baby shower for expectant parents Saturday, April 14, at 9 a.m.
This shower is for all Department of Defense parents ranks E-1 through E-5 and O-1.
"This workshop is an educational opportunity for new, expecting parents," said Brenda Wells, Airman and Family Readiness Center community readiness consultant. "Knowledge is power, and this workshop adds more tools to their toolkit. With knowledge families are more resilient."
The topics covered in the baby shower include keeping mom healthy, making healthy baby food, performing infant CPR and teaching baby sign language.
A&FRC non-commissioned officer in charge, Master Sgt. Susan Hale, said, "Parenting is stressful, especially when you're new to it. It's really kind of scary. The more prepared you are, the better off you will be."
After parents attend the three 20-minute sessions, parents will be given a car seat and baby pack.
"Other baby items were donated to be placed in the hands of military families," Wells said.
There will also be tables with additional information featuring topics for new parents.
This workshop is a collaboration between the Resiliency Flight, Health and Wellness Center, American Red Cross, Airman and Family Readiness Center and Operation Homefront.

This program is not to be confused with Bundles for Babies, which is offered by the A&FRC. Parents are encouraged to attend both workshops is possible.
