LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq -- Six battalions of the 13th COSCOM's Corps Distribution Command were presented with the shoulder sleeve insignia for former wartime service in a ceremony here Tuesday.
Battalion commanders and Command Sergeants Major from the 13th COSCOM Special Troops Battalion, 49th Transportation Battalion (movement control), 4th Corps Material Management Center, 126th Finance Battalion, 50th Finance Battalion and 138th Personal Services Battalion were symbolically awarded the combat patch, on behalf of all their soldiers, by Brig. Gen. James E. Chambers, 13th COSCOM commanding general.
Col. Laurie Sattler, the CDC commander, praised her subordinate units by reciting a litany of statistics exemplifying six months of accomplishments in logistics. According to Sattler, the CDC has processed over 15,000 air passengers, 43 million gallons of diesel fuel, 850,000 supply requisitions, 23,000 convoys, 1.7 million lbs. of mail and disbursed over $1.4B in checks.
The patch is worn on the right shoulder and symbolizes combat service with that unit. Chambers awarded mostly 13th COSCOM patches, however the 126th Finance and 50th Finance battalions are attached to the COSCOM and were awarded patches from their home commands.
Each of the six battalions has scheduled a similar ceremony to present combat patches to their own subordinate units.
