CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — Marines and sailors of Combat Logistics Battalion 8, 2nd Marine Logistics Group said farewell to their commanding officer, who led them through their six-month deployment to Afghanistan.
Lt. Col. Michael E. McWilliams, from Downingtown, Pa., relinquished command to Lt. Col. Christopher D. Hrudka, a Deerfield, Ill., native, during a ceremony aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 19.
“Their character and their commitment is unmatched,” McWilliams said about the Marines and sailors of CLB-8 after reminiscing about the highlights of their time together.
McWilliams will continue his career at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C.
“It’s been an honor and privilege to serve along side of you,” McWilliams said to the Marines and sailors standing in front of him. “And Chris, I wish you the best of luck.”
Hrudka was the 2nd MLG future operations officer before assuming command of the battalion.
“Marines, you have demonstrated your professionalism and dedication, over and over again, in garrison and in combat,” Hrudka said. “I can’t tell you how much I look forward to working with all of you. You have my commitment that I will work my hardest to take care of you, take care of this unit and meet your high expectations.”
