    PRESS RELEASE

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait—Kuwaiti sand may be so fine that it cannot be used for cement, but it is the stuff that cements the fine bonds of love for Capts. Scott and Molly Davidson. They are now serving in their second deployment in the shifting desert sands of Southwest Asia in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, this time with the 377th Theater Support Command.

They barely had time to enjoy their honeymoon when they married Aug. 9, 2002, before they were deployed together in 2003 — deployed together, but not together. It's different for this tour.

"Our last deployment had us in different units so we didn't see much of each other," said Molly.

"It's a lot better during this deployment because we get to see each other and talk to each other every day," said Scott.

Though the young couple is in the same unit, work in the operations section and live on the same post, they do not socialize or cohabitate. They agree that this would give the wrong impression of fraternization to the younger Soldiers and Kuwaiti host nationals.

"Even though we don't share each other's company like we'd like to, we are still very grateful for our current situation of being deployed together in the same place," said Scott.

They saw the danger of being apart for a year, so they volunteered for this tour to ensure they could at least be close to each other in a deployment to a combat area.

"We still exchange ideas, make plans for the future or just talk. Other Soldiers are spending their year away from their spouses where they can't do that. This is a big deal, and we are fortunate that we don't have that [situation]," said Molly.

Molly is a deputy orders manger and Scott is a plans officer for the operations cell. Last deployment, they were both in the air defense artillery. She was in the 1-1 ADA deployed under the, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, and he was with Task Force 2-43 ADA attached to the 1st Marine Division.

Molly, a 1997 graduate of Luverne Public High School, Luverne, Minn., has been in the service for seven years, with a year in the National Guard, two years in the Army Reserve and four years on active duty. She has a bachelor's of arts in communication studies from the University of Iowa (2000) and a master's in business administration from the University of Phoenix (2004). She is currently enrolled in Villanova University working on her Graduate Certificate in Project Management. She joined the military for college money, and she enjoys working out, movies, traveling and good food. Her parents are Tim and Julie Burns of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Scott, a 1993 graduate of Manalapan High School, New Jersey, joined the service to serve his country, and he has also been in the service for seven years, with two years in the Army Reserve and five in active duty. He earned his a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1998 from Stockton State University, a master's in criminal justice management in 2000 from Columbus State University and another master's in business administration in 2004 from the University of Phoenix. He is currently enrolled in Villanova University working on his Graduate Certificate in Project Management. His parents are Sandy Volk of Marlboro, N.J., and Don Davidson of La Jolla, Calif.
