FORWARD OPERATING BASE PASAB, Afghanistan – During a whirlwind tour of Afghanistan medical units, the U.S. Army Deputy Surgeon General Maj. Gen. Richard Stone pinned soldiers with the combat medical badge April 18.
Soldiers from the following units received their combat medical badges: 782nd Brigade Support Battalion; 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment; 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment; and 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment.
Stone along with senior medical officials from several of the services, visited medical facilities in Regional Commands East, South and Southwest over several days, and the generals and their senior enlisted leaders made it a point to engage with the service members during their tour.
The surgeons general team consisted of: Surgeon General of the U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Matthew Nathan, Surgeon General of the U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Charles Green, United Kingdom Surgeon General Vice Adm. Philip Raffaelli and U.S. Army Deputy Surgeon General Maj. Gen. Richard Stone as well as their respective senior enlisted advisers.
