ADANA, Turkey - Members of Team Incirlik gathered to celebrate the onset of warmer weather April 28 in Arkadas Park.

Spring Fling is one of the first events of spring that provides base members a chance to come together as a community to participate in numerous activities and enjoy fair-style food booths manned by Incirlik's airmen, spouses and private organizations.

"It was fun this year because we had the opportunity to partner with Race for the Cure," said Mark Sullivan, 39th Force Support Squadron Community Services flight chief. "There's a lot of synergy with having the two programs together, and we were able to do that again this year and it's worked out really well.

"And of course to be able to bring Ruben V and the guys from San Antonio to provide a little bit of background music and some entertainment, it's great," he said.

The event allowed service members, civilians and their family members to enjoy camaraderie with others while taking part in festivities. Among the many activities were Relay for Life, bone marrow donor registration, funnel cakes, bike tune-ups, a dunk booth, Texas blues and rock band Ruben V, henna tattoos, face painting, teddy bear stuffing stations, and much more.

"It gives you a good feel of a big festival from back in the states even though we're on the other side of the world," said Cheryl Wood, a member of Team Incirlik who attended the fling. "I know I've been a little homesick, so this kind of makes you feel closer to the States."

Sullivan said he was happy with the participation and outcome of the event.

"It's been a great day. I've had a lot of fun. It's great when everyone has a chance to pull this together. Hopefully our private orgs have done well, and they've been able to raise lots of funds for their organizations," said Sullivan. "It's been great. It's been a lot of fun putting this together again."
