FORT KNOX, Ky. - U.S. Army NHRA Racing Top Fuel drivers Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and Antron Brown visited Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, Sunday, July 8, for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.
Schumacher lost to pole sitter Steve Torrence in the semifinals, while Brown was beaten in the second round by his Don Schumacher Racing teammate Spencer Massey.
Schumacher (second in points) and Brown (third in the standings) will take a weekend off before heading to the MOPAR Mile-High Nationals, July 20-22, at Bandimere Speedway outside Denver.
In the U.S. Army NASCAR Racing camp on Saturday night, Stewart-Haas Racing driver Ryan Newman secured a fifth-place finish in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
Newman's car owner and teammate, Tony Stewart, captured his third win of the season and in the process moved into 14th on the all-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win list.
After scoring his third top-five of the season, Newman retained 15th-place in the Sprint Cup driver standings, while Stewart moved from ninth to fifth in the points. Both drivers will travel to New Hampshire Motor Speedway next Sunday for the LENOX Industrial Tools 301.
