FORT MCCOY, Wis.—Sgt. Nathaniel Boyd is not faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, nor can he leap tall buildings in a single bound. But he is a super man who loves his wife Heather and son, Thomas.
“I could not be in this Best Warrior Competition without her,” said Boyd. “She is very supportive and understanding.”
The support and understanding of Heather enables him to handle the dual roles of being a Warrior-Citizen and to participate in the 2012 U.S. Army Reserve Best Warrior Competition in Fort McCoy, Wis.
“I like the challenges I will have to face in the competition,” said Boyd. “It gives me a chance to experience something new.”
Boyd may not have super powers but he is a superman doing great things for his country and his family.
Boyd entered the 2012 USARC Best Warrior Competition to challenge his skills as a soldier.
Boyd, a medic from Kansas City, Mo., assigned to the 325th Combat Support Hospital, joined the Army Reserve shortly after the World Trade Center Bombing in New York.
“After the bombing, I felt obligated to serve my country,” said Boyd. “It was just the right thing to do.”
Boyd remained in the military after a tour in Iraq, because he enjoys serving his country and the challenges of the Army Reserve.
He is a Warrior who has sworn to defend the principles of the Unites States and a father who has sworn to set a good example for his son.
“I would like my son and I to have the same type of relationship that my father, William Boyd, and I have,” said Boyd.
Boyd is striving to be a great father and is courageous enough to be one of the Army Reserve’s best warriors.
