FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who was found unresponsive, Aug. 10, in his off-post residence in Killeen, Texas. Bell County Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin pronounced him deceased the same day.
Spc. Tyler Lynn Abbott, 29, whose home of record is listed as Westwood, Calif., entered the military in April 2006 as a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist. He arrived at Fort Hood in January 2011 and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since March 2012.
Abbott's awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
