MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – The 1st Marine Logistics Group Beast football team improved their record to 2-0 with a commanding victory against the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego Titans 32-0, here Aug. 14.
As the Beast tried to establish its running game early, fullback Kevin Gonzalez found the endzone on the opening drive following a Titans turnover on the first play of the game.
Before the first quarter was over, Beast quarterback Matthew Petree connected with wide receiver Charles Robinson and tight end Brian Mages.
Petree threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Warder in the second quarter to take a 24-0 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Petree would find his fourth target of the night with a touchdown pass to running back Thaddaeus Haney. The Beast finally converted a two-point conversion to make the final score 32-0.
Petree has thrown six touchdowns passes and zero interceptions in the first two games of the season.
The Beast defense has kept both opponents scoreless, winning the first game of the season against the 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion Gators 20-0.
The Beast plays their next game against the Marine Air Support Squadron 3 Blacklist on Aug. 20, at the 11-Area football field at 5 p.m.
