MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – The 1st Marine Logistics Group Beast football team defeated the Marine Air Support Squadron 3 Blacklist 48-0 here, Aug. 20.

The Beast is off to a 3-0 start for the season.

In its game against Blacklist, the Beast’s defense quickly established its ground when Beast linebacker Corey Norman returned an interception for a touchdown.

The Beast’s offense started their first possession with a run attack which turned into a touchdown run by fullback Kevin Gonzalez.

However, with less than three minutes left in the first quarter, Beast quarterback Matthew Petree completed a pass up the middle to tight end Brian Mages for a 55-yard touchdown.

Before halftime, Petree threw his second touchdown of the game when he connected with wide receiver Charles Robinson to make the score 28-0.

The coach of the Beast, Marvin Hill, decided to rest Petree and bring in backup quarterback Larry Stradnick for the start of the third quarter.

The Beast kicked off the second half of the game by trying to run out the clock. That’s when running back Marcus Mays found the endzone from less than 10-yards out to make the score 34-0.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Stradnick threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Carnell Ward.

Then, with less than a minute left in the game, Blacklist’s quarterback threw another pick-6, this time to defensive back Steven Koller, making the final score 48-0.

Petree has thrown eight touchdown passes and one interception in the first three games.

The Beast’s defense has kept its opponents scoreless in all three games this season. The combined score of these games is 100-0.

The Beast plays their next game against the 1st Marines Bulldogs, Aug. 27, at the 11-Area football field at 5 p.m.
