WASHINGTON — A native of Grand Junction, Colo., re-enlisted in the Marine Corps during a ceremony held at the United States Capitol, Aug. 20.

Cpl. Juan Cisneros, a motor transport Marine stationed at Marine Barracks Washington, dedicated four more years to the United States of America.

“This is an exciting day,” said the 22-year-old. “I could not be prouder to serve my country, and to re-enlist at the same place where laws are passed and my elected officials work is something not many Marines get to experience.”

Cisneros enlisted in the Corps November 2008 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. During his time at the Barracks, Cisneros has driven in support of countless ceremonies, funerals and field operations.

Barracks Marines support ceremonial and security missions in the nation’s capital. Each year, the Marines support more than 30 parades and hundreds of ceremonies and functions to include funerals and sporting events across the country and globe while maintaining proficiency in their respective military occupational specialties and meeting their annual Marine Corps training requirements.

Throughout his career, the Central High School-graduate has been awarded a Good Conduct Medal, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Cisneros said he is looking forward to starting the next phase of his life with his wife. He said that he hopes to be stationed in Hawaii when he leaves the Barracks.

“I would like to thank those back home that helped me to become the man I am today. This day would not be possible without them,” Cisneros said.
