MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. – Marines and MV-22B Ospreys from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263 are scheduled to participate in a ‘Deployment for Training’ exercise aboard Fort Carson, Sept. 6-24, 2012.
During the exercise, VMM-263 will plan, coordinate, and execute a squadron deployment for training to practice their ability to conduct expeditionary operations ashore. The focus of effort is the squadron's ability to conduct daily business and successful missions at an unfamiliar site.
In order to prepare for future contingency operations, the exercise will also allow VMM-263 to train for expeditionary operations, ensure deployment capabilities, and test training readiness, all with a variety of challenges and opportunities provided by the unfamiliar environment and terrain in Colorado. The squadron will maximize the training opportunities available in the Ft. Carson/Colorado Springs area and take advantage of the unique learning opportunities they will encounter.
In addition, VMM-263 is looking forward to showcasing their unique and highly-capable MV-22B Ospreys to the local Fort Carson Community.
