CAMP GRAFTON, N.D. - The North Dakota National Guard will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a new addition to the Camp Gilbert C. Grafton Readiness Center Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. The dedication symbolizes the growth and change of the N.D. Army National Guard as it continues to expand to meet training needs and mission growth as it serves the state and the nation's Guard.

The project includes the alteration of 11,500 square feet of the original building and a 41,178 square foot addition. The facility will house the 136th CSSB, the 3662nd Maintenance Company CRC, and the Camp Grafton Annual Training Site Detachment. The Addition/Alteration project will provide units with administration, classroom, unit supply, kitchen, physical fitness, weapons vaults, and locker room space and a 14,850 square foot unheated enclosed vehicle storage area.

The Annual Training Site Detachment operates, manages and administers Camp Grafton Training Center resources to provide year-round customer service to assigned, attached, and transient or tenant units/organizations. The Annual Training Site commander is Col. Dave Rickford and the senior NCO is Command Sgt. Maj. Orville Wang.

The original 33,081 square foot Readiness Center was built in 1982 to house the 3662nd Maintenance Company. The 3662nd has been reorganized twice since its origination in 1968, nearly doubling personnel and equipment authorizations. The 136th Quartermaster Battalion was organized in 1990 and was reorganized in 2008 as the 136th Combat Sustainment and Support Battalion. The Annual Training Site Detachment was reorganized into a separate unit in 2002 when the Joint Force Headquarters was created. These units were operating in multiple buildings that were 30 to 100 percent deficient in meeting the authorized space requirements.
