3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division

KIRKUK, Iraq – Pfc. Joseph Gardner, aviation fueler, Echo Company, 2nd Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, pumped the "one-millionth" gallon of fuel into an OH-58D ("Kiowa Warrior") at Forward Operating Base Warrior, Kirkuk, Iraq. Brig. Gen. Francis J. Wiercinski, deputy commanding general support, 25th Infantry Division, was on-hand to recognize the event.

Wiercinski congratulated Echo Company Soldiers for helping to keep the brigade's air assets in the fight and took the opportunity during his visit to FOB Warrior to meet with pilots to discuss the squadron's mission and experiences to date.

According to Lt. Col. James Barker, squadron commander, 2-6, his "Air Cav" unit provides direct aviation support to the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team that the brigade wouldn't usually have, which includes reconnaissance, security, close combat attack and air assault capabilities.
