WASHINGTON - Chief Hospital Corpsman John A. McGilvery, son of Inna and the late John McGilvery of Dallas reenlisted in the Navy for two years on Sept. 21, at the Navy Memorial, Washington.

His reenlistment extends his active-duty obligation to 2014. Upon completion, he can retire with 22 years of service.

Members of the Naval Medical Logistics Command chief’s mess joined McGilvery in a ceremony that featured a feast at a local restaurant, photos of all personnel attending and memorial visits while in the nation’s capital.

A 1992 graduate of Grady Spruce High School, McGilvery is currently completing his Masters in Business Administration degree through the Texas A&M-Commerce distance learning program.

As leading chief petty officer for the Operational Forces Support Directorate, McGilvery oversees the day-to-day operations required to provide medical equipment and consumable life-cycle logistics services to the naval operating forces.

He is married to the former Yolanda Valverde Vergeles and they have two children Isabel and Jay.
