PITTSBURG, Calif - The United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants performed for over 1,500 community members in Hayward and Pittsburg, Calif., Oct. 12-13, 2012.
“We are here to bring the Air Force to you; to get your community and our Air Force, our military, together to build and strengthen partnerships,” said 2nd Lt. Peter Folliard, officer in charge, Singing Sergeants.
The band’s first concert was titled “Carnival” and highlighted music from around the world. Pieces were sampled from Argentinian tango, Brazilian choro music and New York’s Broadway district. The next stop of the 14-day tour is Oct. 14, 2012, at the National Steinbeck Center, Sherwood Hall, Salinas, Calif.
The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants have traveled together around the globe for more than 70 years representing the U.S. Air Force and our country as part of the U.S. Air Force Band. The Band performs these concerts to honor veterans and showcases the global Air Force mission. They also seek to inspire patriotism and foster an interest in military service.
