CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Because of a lack of late-night customers, the Hadnot Point 7 Day Store will no longer be open to service people 24 hours a day.

“The need just isn’t there,” said Kim Oliver, marketing director for Marine Corps Community Services. “We’ve researched the amount of foot traffic going into the seven day store and during the early morning, there just isn’t that many people going to buy things.”

The seven day store will open Monday through Saturday 6 a.m. and will remain open until midnight every night. The store will open 9 a.m. on Sundays.

Oliver said the Mainside Marine Mart on Holcomb Boulevard and Birch Street will now open at 5:30 a.m. during weekdays to give Marines coming on base in the mornings a place to go to get a bite to eat or whatever else they may need. The Marine Mart will be closed on weekends however.

“If the demand for extended hours comes back, then we will adjust our hours to fit what the (base inhabitants) need,” said Oliver. “It just isn’t very cost effective to keep the place running with people on the clock if the store doesn’t get much business.”
