VICKSBURG, Miss. - Brig. Gen. James T. Williams, commander of 302nd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, 412th Theater Engineer Command, and a resident of Monroe County, Ga., was awarded the Legion of Merit in a brief ceremony held here today at the George A. Morris Army Reserve Center.
The award signified Williams' "exceptionally meritorious achievement" during his previous assignment as deputy commander of operations, 80th Training Command (Total Army School System), from May 2011 to April 2012 in North Chesterfield, Va.
"Williams' inspirational leadership combined with his intense desire for excellence was the driving force behind the many exemplary and precedent setting success in a short time period. His resourceful and innovative actions were key to his impressive ability to influence change."
Maj. Gen. William M. Buckler, Jr., commander of 412th TEC, presided over the ceremony in the presence of Maj. Gen. Luis Visot, deputy commander of operations, U.S. Army Reserve Command, and more than 50 TEC and USARC key leaders congregated here for the Force Generation Readiness Review Conference.
Williams has served in a variety of assignments since his commission as an Infantry Officer in 1983. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of Alabama. He earned a bachelor's degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama, an MBA in Management from Mercer University and a another master's in Strategic Studies from the Army War College.
