MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Marines and sailors with the 1st Marine Logistics Group Beast football team will move on to the championship game after defeating the 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion Gators with an astounding 42-0 win at the 11-Area football field, Nov. 6.

The Beast completed the regular season with an undefeated record, and continued its winning streak into the playoffs.

The Gators started the game with the ball, but on the second play, defensive back Randy Holmes caught an interception pass.

After the turnover, quarterback Matthew Petree threw the ball to receiver Tony Ortiz who ran into the end zone at 9:23 for the first touchdown of the game.

With less than three minutes in the first quarter, Petree passed the ball to wide receiver Charles "Hester" Robinson, who scored his first of many touchdowns in the game. Kicker Christian Proud added another extra point, bringing the score to 14-0.

Despite the heavy fog and low visibility, the Beast continued to add points to the scoreboard in the second quarter. With 5:20 left before halftime, Robinson scored his second touchdown against the Gators.

Just before the end of the quarter, Jordan Ratliffe also carried the ball into the end zone, bringing the game to 28-0 at the half.

Regardless of the significant lead, 1st MLG continued to play hard.

The Beast began the third quarter with possession of the ball. Searching for an open receiver, Petree found left the pocket and ran the ball for a touchdown.

Before the end of the third quarter, Cordell "Bama" Breeding caught an interception pass and the Gators' score remained zero going to the final quarter.

During the fourth quarter, the mercy rule went into effect, and the time began to run uninterrupted.

The defense continued to hold the Gators to zero points and Robinson scored two more touchdowns, bringing his total to four touchdowns in the game. The second round playoff game ended with a final score of 42-0.

The Beast will step on the field for the championship title on Nov. 20, as they face the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Falcons. The undefeated Beast hopes to bring the title of 2012 Camp Pendleton Football League Champions to 1st MLG.
