MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. - Active duty service members and their spouses received free pre-holiday vehicle safety inspections from the floor mechanics at the Auto Hobby Skills Center aboard MCB Quantico on Aug. 30.
The Auto Hobby Skills Center has been doing these pre-holiday inspections for years.
“We do this to give back to the armed forces,” said Craig Hulse, Auto Hobby Skills Center floor mechanic. “After having this done, they know they are safe to go on their trip.”
The floor mechanics inspected the lights; tires, including the spare; brakes; exhaust and the undercarriage of the car.
Hulse said the problem they are finding with most vehicles is brake pads being worn and spare tires not being under inflated.
“When you drive a car every single day, it’s easy to overlook what seems like little details,” said Hulse. “We know what to look for, so they won’t have anything to worry about.”
