MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. – Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Guillermo Tejada will receive the USO George Van Cleave Military Leadership Award at the 51st USO Armed Forces Gala & Gold Medal Dinner on Dec. 13, 2012 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

The USO George Van Cleave Military Leadership Award is the USO's way of publicly honoring and thanking the outstanding commitment, exceptional service and achievements of individuals who have shown extraordinary dedication to their country. Reflecting the enduring legacy of our military and mission of the USO, the award is given to service members, who through their selfless commitment to country, inspire others and uplift the spirits of their comrades, their families and the American people. Award recipients were selected after extensive review and much consideration.

Tejada was wounded in Afghanistan in November 2010, and is assigned to the Wounded Warrior Regiment. He is currently stationed at the Wounded Warrior Battalion East detachment San Antonio Military Medical Center.
