For her work covering recent events in Kuwait for U.S. Third Army, Sgt. Jenie Fisher has been selected as the February Journalist of the Month.

Fisher, a broadcaster with the 27th Public Affairs Detachment, used her broadcast skills to document the commemoration of 50 years of Kuwaiti independence and the 20-year anniversary of Kuwait’s liberation.

Her videos like “Kuwait Celebrates Liberation” were sent to multiple local, national and international media outlets because of their news merit. Fisher also submits videos in high-definition, which makes them more desirable.

The interviews with Desert Storm veterans, that she recorded, helped provide background information on the U.S. military’s role in the liberation of Kuwait.

One of Fisher’s videos, “Kuwait Prepares for 50-20 Celebration,” generated more than 230 Facebook shares, resulting in more than a 1,000 percent viral lift.

Fisher’s coverage of the 50/20 celebrations in Kuwait began in January with the kickoff on Qaruh Island, which she documented with the video b-roll “Qaruh Island Celebration b-roll” and then explained with the video package “Kuwait Celebrates 20 years of Liberation.”

"Sgt. Jennifer Fisher is an expert Army broadcaster, a real pro. What sets her apart is her understanding of the overall strategic communication campaign and how to use her craft to inform and entertain her audience,” said Lt. Gen. William G. Webster, Third Army Commanding General.

More coverage of the Kuwait’s 50/20 celebrations can be found here: http://www.dvidshub.net/tags/5020
show less
