Senior Airman Felicia Juenke, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, has stood above the rest in October. She consistently demonstrated her capabilities in all aspects of military news photography from shooting the photo to entering in the necessary metadata, and then submitting to DVIDS. First, Juenke demonstrated a keen sense of timeliness. Many of her uploads to DVIDS were taken the same day, giving her material the added bonus of being current. More current photos are more likely to be picked up by media outlets who live by a 24-hour news cycle. Successfully capturing the whole event, Juenke gives each subject she photographs a great breadth of coverage with shots ranging from extreme detail close-ups, to medium, and long range shots. Along with these great attributes, Juenke is nearly flawless in her use of image metadata. In every photo gallery she has submitted, each photo has all required metadata fields filled. Going further, she creates a solid headline for her photo batch, and places it in the approprate field. Her captions could use some minor adjustments, namely by removing obligatory titles before last names, after first reference, and by adding detailed information regarding the actions performed. First and foremost, filling out the necessary metadata fields is a requirement per DoD Regulation 5040.6. When uploading to DVIDS remotely, the Web site can read metadata and autofill in fields it uses. When submitting material via e-mail or SAFE FTP for local upload here, having appropriate metadata is a huge timesaver in determining who submitted the material, and to whom it should be credited. show less
