    Alfred Coffield was born in Baltimore, Maryland. After attending college at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, he enlisted in the US Navy in 2012. He attend the Defense Information School's Basic Mass Communication Specialist Course after completing basic training, and was quickly identified as a standout in his class. He was selected by his peers and instructors for the Booby McRill Excellence Award, which is given to a Sailor who exemplifies Navy core values and demonstrates leadership and technical ability. He was also selected to join Fleet Combat Camera Pacific (FLTCOMCAM) where he performed his duties as a Mass Communication Specialist. At FLTCOMCAM, he participated in 5 deployments to include Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Guam. Alfred was twice selected as the FLTCOMCAM Junior Sailor of the Year, and selected for the Meritorious Advancement Program (MAP), the Navy's program to meritoriously advance eligible personnel in paygrades E5 and below to the next higher paygrade which recognizes the best Sailors by advancing them when they are ready for the next level of responsibility. After completed his tour at FLTCOMCAM, Alfred was submitted and selected for the Military Visual Journalism program at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School where he attended a full year of extensive courses in photojournalism. He then received orders to Commander, Submarine Force Atlantic where he fulfilled a first class billet for a Type Commander (TYCOM) for all United States Navy submarine forces under the command of a 3 star admiral. Alfred was once again selected to the MAP program after only serving one year at the command, and was promoted to petty officer first class. Alfred is currently at COMSUBLANT where serves as the leading petty officer for the public affairs office.
