    MAJ Robert J. Taylor has served as the Idaho Army National Guard public affairs officer and the Idaho National Guard’s deputy public affairs officer since 2017. He was also assigned as the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team public affairs officer in November 2021. In these positions, he manages the Idaho National Guard’s social media platforms and writes news stories, features, and media advisories highlighting unit members and major events. MAJ Taylor completed the Joint Intermediate Public Affairs Course in November 2022 and the U.S. Army Inspector General Course in April 2021. He has also completed Public Affairs Qualification Course; Bradley Commander Certification; Multifunctional Logistics Captain Career Course; Engineer Basic Officer Leaders Course; and Officer Candidate School. MAJ Taylor served as the commander of A Company, 116th Brigade Engineer Company from October 2020 to October 2021. He previously served as an engineer plans officer at the brigade and battalion levels and as the 126th Engineer Support Company commander and executive officer. MAJ Taylor enlisted into the Idaho Army National Guard in 2001 and served as a paralegal specialist until he commissioned as an engineer officer in 2007. He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III in 2005 and has completed two National Training Center rotations and one Joint Readiness Training Center rotation. He has participated in overseas training exercises in Cambodia and Thailand. His awards include the Army Commendation Award, fourth award; the Air Force Commendation Medal; the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, second award; the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, second award; the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, bronze award; the Idaho National Guard Emergency Service Award, second award; and the Tennessee National Guard Individual Achievement Medal. MAJ Taylor was awarded the Idaho National Guard’s LTC Clinton R. Taylor Integrity in Leadership award in 2014. MAJ Taylor holds a juris doctorate from the University of Idaho and is licensed to practice law in the state of Idaho. He earned his master’s degree in sports management from the American Military University in 2009; his bachelor’s degree in public relations in 2007 from the University of Idaho; and an associate’s degree in criminal justice from the College of Southern Idaho in 2005. MAJ Taylor lives in Meridian, Idaho, with his wife and three children.
