Cpl. Steven Tran was born in Los Angeles, California on Dec. 21, 1992. He completed Providence High School in Burbank, California, in 2011 and attended a semester at California State University Northridge. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on April 28, 2014, and completed recruit training on June 25, 2014. At the Defense Information School in Maryland, he completed the Basic Public Affairs Specialist Course, Broadcast Correspondent Specialist Course and Advanced Electronic Journalism Course. He entered III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan, in June of 2015. From III MEF, he deployed to Korea, mainland Japan, the Philippines, Cambodia, Brunei, and Thailand. In June of 2017, he will be checking in to Recruiting Station Portland, Oregon.
