Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class (SW) Abraham Loe McNatt

Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Abraham McNatt is a native of Silverton, Oregon. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Oregon in 2003 and a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of Phoenix in 2011.
He joined the Navy Sept. 25, 2012. After completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, he attended Mass Communication Specialist ‘A’ School and graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate in June 2013. He went on to earn the Certificate of Advanced Photojournalism from Syracuse University in May 2016.
McNatt’s first duty station was Navy Public Affairs Support Element East at Naval Station Norfolk. Shortly after arriving, he was meritoriously advanced to Petty Officer Third Class. He deployed as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group and completed a nine-month deployment aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58). While deployed, he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification.
McNatt is now assigned to Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command, at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.
McNatt earned his promotion to first class petty officer in May 2017. His personal awards include being named the Outstanding New Journalist for both the Navy’s Russell Egnor Awards and the DoD Thomas Jefferson Awards in 2014, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various unit awards.
