First Lieutenant Barney enlisted in the Idaho Air National Guard in February, 2005, joining the 124th Wing. He served 9 years as a Public Affairs Photographer and Video Combat Correspondent, deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, once as a photographer to Southwest Asia and once as a videographer to Afghanistan. He graduated Boise State University in 2008, with a Bachelor of Arts. He joined the Idaho Army National Guard in the fall of 2013, attending Army Basic training in the winter of 2014. Lieutenant Barney currently works full time in the Idaho Army National Guard’s Visual Information section, as well as serving as a Platoon Leader for combat engineers with the 116th Brigade Engineer Battalion.
