    MCC Anna Van Nuys is a native of Akron, Ohio and she graduated from Field High School in June 2013. She later entered the U.S. Navy, attending basic training at Recruit Training Command in Chicago, Sept. 2013. MCC attended the Basic Mass Communication Specialist Course in Fort. Meade, Md. before transferring to her first duty assignment aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) in Norfolk, Va. She deployed aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt in March 2015 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. MCC Van Nuys was promoted to Petty Officer Third Class before completing a three carrier hull swap where she served the rest of her sea duty assignment aboard the USS George Washington (CVN 73). She promoted to Petty Officer Second Class before transferring to her current duty assignment at Navy Public Affairs Support Element (NPASE) East. MCC Van Nuys promoted to first class after her third deployment aboard the USS Bataan (LHD 5), serving as the Commander, Amphibious Squadron 8 Public Affairs Leading Petty Officer. MCC Van Nuys is currently serving as the Deputy Communications Director for the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy James Honea. MCC Van Nuys’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Navy Meritorious Unit Conduct Medal, Navy “E” ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Inherent Resolve Medal, Global War on Terror Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment ribbon, Sharpshooter Pistol Marksmanship Medal and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Insignia.
