    Sgt. Dean Johnson is currently assigned to the 5th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment to provide accurate and timely information of command messages from the 5th MPAD, I Corps, and the U.S. Army to the public. During his Army tenure, Sgt. Johnson has been awarded with the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. He has worked alongside public affairs soldiers of multiple nations to cover historic events, such as the validation exercises in Finland and Sweden that fostered interoperability and strengthened relations with these countries moving forward. When he was first assigned to the 5th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, Sgt. Johnson deployed on the Atlantic Resolve rotation to assist the European Deterrence Initiative and provide strategic support in Bulgaria, Finland, Poland, Romania and Sweden. In November 2020, he was assigned to 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, under the command of 7th Infantry Division. While at Lancer Brigade, Sgt. Johnson assisted modernization by highlighting, and demonstrating to the audience, the capabilities of the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle- Binocular (ENVG-B). His b-roll was distributed through numerous large media channels such as The Washington Post and Task & Purpose. Sgt. Johnson joined the Army in August 2019 as a 46S, Mass Communications Specialist and completed Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Meade, Maryland. After AIT, Johnson PCS'ed with his family to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Before joining the U.S. Army, Sgt. Johnson attended college at Georgia State University and attained a Bachelor's in journalism/public affairs. He was born in Akron, Ohio and raised in Kent, Ohio and Lilburn, Georgia. Sgt. Johnson is excited and motivated to capture Army history through photo, video and written media to preserve it for the betterment of our future.
