Sgt. Amelia Kang is from Portland, Oregon After graduating high school in June 2020, She reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island for recruit training in August 2020.
Shortly after completing recruit training and Marine Combat Training, Kang reported to the Defense Information School at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, to complete Military Occupational Specialty training. Taking the Mass Communication Foundation Course, MCF Visual Documentation- Photography, MCF Broadcast Journalism, and MCF Graphic Design. Shortly after graduating from DINFOS, she reported to I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group (IMIG), 1st COMMSTRAT Company, billeted as a Combat Graphic Designer. Sgt. Kang reported to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in May of 2023, and served there until January of 2025. Kang now serves as a Combat Graphic designer at IMIG.
Sgt. Kang's awards include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (1) National Defense Service Medal (1), Good Conduct Medal (1), sea service deployment ribbon (1), and the Korea Defense Service Medal (1).
