Staff Sgt. Cureton joined the military in May of 2013 as a watercraft engineer and later transitioned to the role of public affairs specialist in April of 2023. It was a reflection of the passion for storytelling and communication, which she now channels into her role as the NCOIC of the public affairs office at 188th infantry brigade, which falls under First Army. In this role, Staff Sgt. Cureton excels in graphic design, writing and photography, sharing the impactful stories of the Observer, Controller/Trainers that fall under the brigade with precision and creativity. Staff Sgt. Cureton graduated with honors from Saint Martin's University, in Lacey, Washington, in May of 2015. She has intertwined her experiences as a reserve soldier, a military spouse, and an active-duty non-commissioned officer to tell the military story in a unique way that shows her commitment to excellence and growth. Outside of professional duties, Staff Sgt. Cureton enjoys spending time with her four children and documenting their memories through photography and videos that her children share an interest with her in, finding joy in blending creativity with family connection. Her goal is to leave a lasting impact both in and out of uniform, and leave the Army and the world better than she found it.
