    Sergeant James G. Stanfield, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on September 23, 2019, and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Following recruit training, he attended the Defense Information School and was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty 4571 (Combat Videographer). After graduating from the Defense Information School in December 2020, he reported to Communication Strategy and Operations, Marine Forces Reserve, New Orleans, Louisiana. He supported various exercises with MARFORRES, such as Balikatan 23, Exercise Intrepid Maven, Exercise Northern Strike, Innovative Readiness Training Arctic Care, and multiple iterations of Integrated Training Exercise. In September 2021, he attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 1-22, in support of Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-1 in Yuma, Arizona. In December 2021, he attached to 23d Marine Regiment in support of Operation Allies Welcome. In April 2023, Sgt. Stanfield was selected to attend the Advanced Military Visual Journalism Program at the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. On July 1, 2023, he executed orders to Syracuse University to attend the Military Graphic Design Course. On May 31, 2024, upon completing the Military Graphic Design course with honors, Sgt. Stanfield executed orders to the Communication Directorate, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps. His Advanced MOS training includes the Mass Communication Foundations Writing (2019), the Intermediate Public Affairs Specialist Course (2022), and the Intermediate Motion Media Course (2023) from the Defense Information School, and the Advanced Military Graphic Design Course (2024) from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Sergeant Stanfield’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (1), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
