No más cruces en la frontera (No More Crosses at the Border) is a humanitarian unbranded campaign developed by the Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection agency. The campaign launched in Mexico and the U.S. in 2004 to curb unnecessary deaths of undocumented immigrants at the border. Additionally, in 2008, the NMC campaign entered into Central America and the Caribbean– specifically, Guatemala, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic.
The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness among potential immigrants who are thinking about crossing the border illegally about the perils, risks and realities to migrate to the U.S. without documents. Through this effort, people are informed of the dangers involved when hiring and trusting smugglers while educating them about the environmental, geographical, and extreme weather conditions that could pose a high risk when crossing the border illegally.
