403rd Wing Airmen Recognized for AFRC Team Aviation Maintenance Safety Award
Three 403rd Wing Airmen earned command-level recognition receiving the 2025 Air Force Reserve Command Team Aviation Maintenance Safety Award for identifying and mitigating a hazardous sanitation risk within the maintenance environment.
Members from the 403rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Second Lt. Joshua Nash, assistant director of operations, and Staff Sgts. Christopher Jeter, hydraulic technician, and Braden Brown, crew chief, were recognized for their efforts which improved workplace safety and helped prevent potential health and operational impacts to the unit.
“The dedication and hard work of these Airmen led to the recognition of a critical need for a dedicated hand-washing station to prevent the spread of hazardous materials and potential cross contamination,” said Lt. Col. Sean Cross, 403rd Wing chief of safety.
Jeter and Brownidentified an opportunity to improve current decontamination protocols. Their recommendations enhance efforts to mitigate the risk of cross-contamination and personnel exposure, ensuring the highest level of hygiene and alignment with the standards of the Department of the Air Force Manual 91-203.
Nashprovided a thorough analysis of multiple courses of action and collaborated with the team to propose the strategic installation of a dedicated hand-washing station adjacent to the existing eyewash and chemical shower.
“Their well-researched, cost-effective recommendation directly mitigated the risk of hazardous chemical exposure by providing immediate, localized decontamination capability for wing personnel,” said Cross.
Their actions significantly enhance compliance with Air Force sanitation regulations, promotes a safer and healthier work environment, and strengthens the full mission capability of the403rd Wing, said Cross.
