California Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Company B, 1-126th Aviation Regiment, and the 640th Aviation Support Battalion work tirelessly to ensure CH-47 Chinook helicopters are mission-ready during the Line Fire response at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California, on Sept. 17, 2024. The Soldiers perform crucial inspections and maintenance before and after flights, addressing any issues that arise to keep the aircraft in the air. "We inspect the aircraft before the flight crew does their preflight and ensure it’s in good condition and ready to fly," said one of the maintainers. Their work is vital in supporting water drops and troop transport in the ongoing wildland firefighting efforts.
