U.S. Army Spc. Jeffrey McKnight, combat medic, 102nd Sapper Company, 7th Engineer Battalion from Allentown, Pa., provided medical aid to a young Afghan girl while on a route clearance patrol halt just south of Combat Outpost Sanchez, Sept. 18.
In the middle of April, insurgents attacked Forward Operating Base Finley Shields, damaging multiple structures. As a result, the Afghan National Army Construction Engineer soldiers from 2nd Brigade, 201st Corps helped the U.S. Army rebuild the wooden structures. The structures ranged in size throughout the life support area and command centers of the FOB.
The Governor of Logar province, Assistant to the Ministries of Defense, members of Parliament, tribal elders, the 203rd Afghan National Army Corps commander and soldiers, and Afghan National Police commander and police were all in attendance for a ceremony at Camp Miawon to mark the official transfer of power of three districts within Logar province from the International Security Assistance Force to Afghan forces July 12.
As the 661st Engineer Company took over the horizontal engineer mission on Forward Operating Base Shank, they also entered into a construction partnership with Afghan National Armyā€™s engineers.
