Wasp is on a scheduled deployment to U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) area of operations as the flagship of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (WSP ARG)-24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC), supporting U.S., Allied and partner interests in the region, including in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, to continue promoting regional stability and deterring aggression. Aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) a team of fire controlmen are putting their knowledge and capabilities to the test. Iwo Jima began its Combat Systems Ships Qualifications Trials, on Tuesday Nov. 12th, 2024. The trials consist of vigorous testing of the combat systems aboard the ship and the fire controlmen in charge of them.
